STATEMENT

This bill prohibits a person from simultaneously being the chairman, treasurer, deputy treasurer, or other officer of more than two political committees, continuing political committees, political party committees, candidate committees, joint candidates committees, or legislative leadership committees.  These committees are established and regulated pursuant to the “The New Jersey Campaign Contributions and Expenditures Reporting Act” to provide greater transparency of the political campaign contributions and expenditures process in the State.

This bill does not change the current restriction imposed on the chairperson of a political party committee or a legislative leadership committee, who is prohibited from also serving as an officer in a candidate or joint candidates committee, a political committee, or a continuing political committee.
