SYNOPSIS

     Requires State to enable applicants for State agency-issued permits to track online the progress and status of their permit application.

An Act concerning certain State agency-issued permits and supplementing P.L.2011, c.34 (C.52:14B-26 et seq.).

 

     Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

     1.    The Secretary of State, or other State officer or employee as the Governor may designate to manage the program to review permits established pursuant to P.L.2011, c.34 (C.52:14B-26 et seq.), shall develop and manage a system by which an applicant for the approval of a permit issued by a State agency may track the progress and status of the application via electronic means.  The system shall operate in a manner that allows only the applicant to be able to access the progress and status of a permit application that such applicant shall have so submitted, while allowing any appropriate State agency to have access to the system in order to provide updated information on the progress and status of the permit application.

 

     2.    This act shall take effect immediately, but shall remain inoperative for 180 days following the date of enactment.

 

 

STATEMENT

 

     This bill requires the State to develop and manage a system by which an applicant for the approval of a permit issued by a State agency may track the progress and status of the application via electronic means.  The bill requires the system to operate in a manner that allows only the applicant to be able to access the progress and status of the applicant’s own permit application, while allowing the appropriate State agency to have access to the system in order to provide updated information on the progress and status of the permit application.  Under the bill, the Secretary of State or other State officer or employee as the Governor may designate to manage the program to review permits, pursuant to P.L.2011, c.34 (C.52:14B-26 et seq.), would be the person responsible for developing and managing this system.
