SYNOPSIS

     Provides exemption to licensing requirements for certain art therapists.

An Act concerning the licensure of art therapists and supplementing P.L.2015, c.199 (C.45:8B-51 et seq.).

 

     Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

     1.    Any individual who has been engaged in the practice of art therapy for no less than five years prior to the effective date of P.L.2015, c.199 (C.45:8B-51 et seq.) shall be exempt from the licensing requirements concerning education and experience established pursuant to section 10 of P.L.2015, c.199 (C.45:8B-60) and any other licensing requirement of P.L.2015, c.199 (C.45:8B-51 et seq.).

 

     2.    This act shall take effect immediately.

 

 

STATEMENT

 

     This bill supplements the “Art Therapist Licensing Act,” P.L.2015, c.199 (C.45:8B-51 et seq.) to provide that any individual who has been engaged in the practice of art therapy for no less than five years prior to July 9, 2016 will be exempt from the licensing requirements concerning education and experience established by the “Art Therapist Licensing Act,” and any other licensing requirement under that law.
