SYNOPSIS

     Prohibits all locally elected officials from receiving retroactive salary increases.

An Act concerning the salaries of locally elected officials and supplementing Title 40A of the New Jersey Statutes.

 

     Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

     1.    a.  The salary of a local elected official shall not be subject to any retroactive increase.

     b.    Any ordinance, resolution, rule, regulation, order or directive contrary to the provisions of subsection a. of this section shall be void and have no force or effect.

     c.     As used in this section:

     “Local elected official” means any official of a local government whose office is regularly filled at an election by the voters.

     “Local government” means a county, municipality, school district, or any other political subdivision of the State.

 

     2.    This act shall take effect immediately 1and shall be retroactive to December 1, 20181.
