SYNOPSIS
Makes FY 2020 supplemental appropriation of $11.453 million; adds language provision appropriating $3.1 million for immigration status-related legal assistance.

A Supplement to "An Act making appropriations for the support of the State Government and the several public purposes for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2020 and regulating the disbursement thereof, " approved , 2019 (P.L.2019, c. ).
Be It Enacted by the Senate and the General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:
1. In addition to the amounts appropriated under P.L.2019, c. , there is appropriated out of the General Fund the following sum for the purpose specified:

2. The following language
provision is added to section 1 of P.L.2019, c. , the annual appropriations
act for fiscal year 2020:

In addition to the amount hereinabove appropriated for Legal Services of New Jersey – Legal Assistance in Civil Matters, $3,100,000, subject to the approval of the Director of the Division of Budget and Accounting based on actual and anticipated caseloads, shall be made available by the Department of the Treasury to one or more persons or organizations qualified to provide such assistance, as determined by the State Treasurer after consultation with the Attorney General, for the provision of legal assistance to individuals facing detention or deportation based on their immigration status.
3. This act shall take effect immediately.
STATEMENT
This bill supplements the Fiscal Year 2020 Appropriations Act. The bill appropriates $10.453 million to the Department of Health for Family Planning Services and $1 million to the Department of Education for special assistance to the Teaneck school district. The bill also includes a new Department of the Treasury language provision authorizing the appropriation of $3.1 million to provide legal assistance to individuals facing detention or deportation based on their immigration status.
