SYNOPSIS

     Requires information on seizure first-aid to be disseminated to employers.

An Act concerning seizures in the workplace and supplementing Title 26 of the Revised Statutes.

 

     Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

     1.    a.  As used in this section:

     "Seizure first aid" means non-medical procedures to respond, attend, and provide comfort and safety to a person suffering from a primary generalized tonic-clonic seizure or complex partial seizure. 

     b.    The Department of Health shall 1[make available on its Internet website information] create an informational pamphlet1 3or poster3 for employers on rendering seizure first aid to an individual who has suffered a seizure in the workplace.  3The informational pamphlet or poster may incorporate any available federal guidance, or guidance from non-profit organizations that support the welfare of individuals with epilepsy and seizure disorders, concerning seizure first aid.3  The Department of 1[Health] Labor and Workforce Development shall make the informational pamphlet 3or poster3 available on its Internet website and1 shall additionally disseminate such information to employers in a manner to be determined by the Commissioner of 1[Health] Labor and Workforce Development1.

     c.     An employer in this State may provide the information disseminated by the department, pursuant to subsection 2[a.] b.2 of this section, to employees and post the information in a prominent place within the employer’s workplace.

 

     2.  This act shall take effect immediately.
