An Act requiring the New Jersey Transit Corporation to provide Wi-Fi service on passenger trains and supplementing Title 27 of the Revised Statutes.
Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:
1. Within six months of the effective date of P.L. , c. (C. ) (pending before the Legislature as this bill), the New Jersey Transit Corporation shall provide onboard Wi-Fi service on each rail passenger vehicle that is owned or operated by the corporation.
2. This act shall take effect immediately.
STATEMENT
This bill requires the New Jersey Transit Corporation (corporation) to provide Wi-Fi service on each passenger train owned or operated by the corporation. Currently, the corporation offers high-speed Wi-Fi hotspots at select rail stations, and the corporation’s Wi-Fi service has been approved for expansion to the corporation’s bus services.
