Makes supplemental appropriation of $650,000 to New Jersey Division of State Police for trooper recruitment and retention.

A Supplement to the annual appropriations act for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2024, P.L.2023, c.74.
Be It Enacted by the Senate and the General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:
1. In addition to the amounts appropriated under P.L.2023, c.74, the annual appropriations act for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2024, there is appropriated from the General Fund the following amount for the purposes specified:

Division of State Police – Recruitment and Retention
The $650,000 supplemental appropriation for the Division of State Police – Recruitment and Retention shall be dedicated to troopers at Step 9 of the base salary of the existing Collective Negotiations Agreement between the State of New Jersey and the State Troopers Fraternal Association and shall be distributed in amounts pursuant to the authority granted to the Chairperson of the Civil Service Commission as provided for in Title 4A of the New Jersey Administrative Code.
2. This act shall take effect immediately.
STATEMENT
This supplemental appropriation provides $650,000 to the Division of State Police for the purpose of augmenting State Trooper salaries to assist the division with recruitment and retention.
The Division of State Police -
Retention supplemental appropriation is to be dedicated to State Troopers at
Step 9 of the base salary of the existing Collective Negotiations Agreement
between the State of New Jersey and the State Troopers Fraternal
Association. This supplemental appropriation should be distributed in amounts
pursuant to the authority granted to the Chairperson of the Civil Service
Commission as provided for in Title 4A of the New Jersey Administrative Code.
