An Act concerning military members and supplementing Title 38A of the New Jersey Statutes.
Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:
1. 2[There is established the “Military Pro Bono Program” in New Jersey’s] The2 Department of Military and Veterans Affairs 2[to] shall2 provide 2information to2 active-duty 1[service]1 members 1of the United States Armed Forces and a Reserve component thereof, including the National Guard,1 and veterans of the military 2about available programs and organizations that provide2 pro bono legal representation 2to active-duty members and veterans2 in various areas of civil law including, but not limited to, family law, estate planning, employment law, immigration law, debtor-creditor law and military administrative law. 2The Department shall make this information, which shall include a list of participating pro bono legal service providers, including law firms or attorneys, available on its website.2
2[2. The Adjutant General of the Department of Military and Veterans' Affairs, pursuant to the "Administrative Procedure Act," P.L.1968, c.410 (C.52:14B‑1 et seq.), shall adopt rules and regulations to effectuate the purposes of this act.]2
2[3.] 2.2 This act shall take effect immediately.
Establishes “Military Pro Bono Program” to provide pro bono legal representation to active-duty members of Armed Forces, Reserve components, members of National Guard, and veterans.
