SYNOPSIS

      Exempts experienced volunteer firefighters from certain requirements.

An Act concerning firefighters and supplementing Title 40A of the New Jersey Statutes.

 

     Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

      1.   A fire department or force, whether 1[paid,]1 part-paid 1[,]1 or volunteer, shall not prohibit a 1volunteer1 firefighter who has five or more years of experience in fire suppression, firefighting, or fire rescue from engaging in fire suppression, firefighting, or fire rescue solely on the grounds that the 1volunteer1 firefighter is uncertified or does not meet a requirement that is not imposed pursuant to statute, rule, or regulation.

 

     2.    This act shall take effect immediately.
