SYNOPSIS
Requires instruction on cursive handwriting in public school curriculum for grades three through five.

An Act concerning instruction on cursive handwriting in 1the1 public 1[schools] school curriculum1 and supplementing chapter 35 of Title 18A of the New Jersey Statutes.
Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:
1. A 1[board of education] school district1 shall 1[include age-appropriate] incorporate1 instruction on 1[writing in cursive and on reading]1 cursive 1handwriting into the curriculum1 for students in grades 1[kindergarten] three1 through five. The 1[instruction] curriculum1 shall include 1[learning]1 activities and 1[resources designed to ensure a student is able to read cursive documents and write] instructional materials that help students become proficient in reading cursive and legibly writing1 in cursive by the end of grade 1[three] five1.
2. This act shall take effect immediately and shall first apply to the first full school year next following the date of enactment.
