SENATE RESOLUTION No. 57

with committee amendments

      The Senate Transportation Committee reports favorably and with committee amendments Senate Resolution 57.

      As amended and reported, this resolution respectfully urges the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission (MVC) to reopen an office in Elizabeth, New Jersey.  The City of Elizabeth is the fourth-largest municipality in New Jersey, with a diverse population nearing 129,000.  The Elizabeth MVC office was conveniently located near a number of public transit access points which provided easy access for the residents of Elizabeth.

     Since the closing of the Elizabeth MVC office, residents of Elizabeth have been forced to travel to Newark and Rahway MVC locations, which are not as easily accessible for the residents of Elizabeth.  Due to the increase in customer volume, customers of nearby MVC locations have experienced significant and inconvenient wait times.  

     The committee amendments make technical corrections for grammatical, spelling, and capitalization errors.
