ASSEMBLY ENVIRONMENT AND SOLID WASTE COMMITTEE
STATEMENT TO
ASSEMBLY, No. 2294
with committee amendments
STATE OF NEW JERSEY
DATED: JUNE 14, 2021
The Assembly Environment and Solid Waste Committee reports favorably and with committee amendments Assembly Bill No. 2294.
This bill, as amended by the committee, would prohibit a person from using or providing, as a business or banking record, a piece of paper to which bisphenol A (BPA) was added or used in the manufacturing process in order to provide a specific characteristic, appearance, or quality to the paper. A person who violates the provisions of the bill would be subject to a penalty of between $250 and $500. The bill would take effect 18 months after the date of enactment.
COMMITTEE AMENDMENTS:
The committee amendments to the bill would prohibit a person from using or providing a piece of paper to which bisphenol A (BPA) was added or used in the manufacturing processing in order to provide a specific characteristic, appearance, or quality to the paper, instead of prohibiting a person from using or providing paper “containing” BPA.
