      The Assembly Aging and Senior Services Committee reports favorably Assembly Bill No. 2719.

      This bill increases the fine that is applicable when a person who is required by law to report suspected abuse or exploitation of an institutionalized elderly person fails to make such a report.  It also increases the fine that is applicable to a facility that employs such a person.  In particular, the bill increases the fine for the person from not more than $500 to not more than $1,500, and it increases the fine for the facility from not more than $2,500 to not more than $5,000.
