ASSEMBLY WOMEN AND CHILDREN COMMITTEE
STATEMENT TO
ASSEMBLY, No. 3277
STATE OF NEW JERSEY
DATED: OCTOBER 19, 2020
The Assembly Women and Children Committee reports favorably Assembly Bill No. 3277.
This bill requires the parent or guardian of a child who is enrolled in a child care center licensed pursuant to P.L.1983, c.492 (C.30:5B-1 et seq.) to notify the sponsor of the child care center or the sponsor’s designee that the child will be absent from the child care center.
If a child who is enrolled in a licensed child care center is determined to be absent without notification from the child’s parent or guardian, and if the reason for the child's absence is unknown to the child care center staff, under the provisions of the bill, the sponsor of the child care center or the sponsor’s designee would be required to immediately attempt to contact the child’s parent or guardian to notify the parent or guardian of the absence and to determine the reason for the absence.
As reported by the committee, Assembly Bill No. 3277 is identical to Senate Bill No. 559 which was also reported by the committee on this date.
