ASSEMBLY, No. 4240

with committee amendments

STATE OF NEW JERSEY

DATED:  DECEMBER 7, 2020

The Senate Health, Human Services and Senior Citizens Committee reports favorably Assembly Bill No. 4240 (1R).

This bill provides for a technological upgrade of the application process for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).  Specifically, the bill requires the Commissioner of Human Services to permit SNAP applicants to apply by phone, to upload required documentation through an online application, and to submit required documentation by electronic mail in any case where the online NJ SNAP application is unavailable.

As reported by the committee, Assembly Bill No. 4240 (1R) is identical to Senate Bill No. 2855 which was also reported by the committee on this date.
