ASSEMBLY SCIENCE, INNOVATION AND TECHNOLOGY COMMITTEE

STATEMENT TO

ASSEMBLY, No. 5449

STATE OF NEW JERSEY

DATED:  MAY 12, 2021

The Assembly Science, Innovation and Technology Committee reports favorably Assembly Bill No. 5449.

As reported, this bill amends the provision in the “New Jersey Conflicts of Interest” statute that allows a State officer or employee, or a special State officer or employee, to enter into a contract with a State agency for the development of scientific or technological discoveries or innovations if the State agency has a property right in the discovery or innovation. This bill removes the condition that the State agency has a property right in the discovery or innovation.
