SENATE ENVIRONMENT AND ENERGY COMMITTEE

STATEMENT TO

SENATE, No. 2099

STATE OF NEW JERSEY

DATED:  AUGUST 17, 2020

The Senate Environment and Energy Committee favorably reports Senate Bill No. 2099.

This bill would authorize a recurring annual tax credit of $250 against the State income tax for owners of properties situated within 1,000 feet of the Barnegat Bay and its tributaries who replace grass lawns with stone, crushed shells, or other similar materials that require no maintenance from fertilizers, liming materials, insecticides, pesticides, herbicides, or other chemical agents that could eventually flow into Barnegat Bay. Property owners with existing stone or crushed shell lawns would also be eligible for this tax credit.
