STATEMENT TO

SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION No. 23

STATE OF NEW JERSEY

      The Assembly Women and Children Committee reports favorably Senate Joint Resolution No. 23.

      This joint resolution designates October 11 as the "Day of the Girl" in New Jersey to raise public awareness about the "International Day of the Girl Child" and galvanize the support of the citizens of, and community-based organizations in, the State to help better girls' lives and provide them with equal opportunities to reach their full potential.

      As reported by the committee, Senate Joint Resolution No. 23 is identical to Assembly Joint Resolution No. 125 which was also reported by the committee on this date.
